Teachers Without Borders
"Educators are the difference between a crisis and a catastrophe"

(Fred Mednick 2016)

Teachers Without Borders is a non profit organisation founded by Fred Mednick Ph.D in 1999.The organisation connects teachers to information and each other in order to bring about social change - and close the education divide on a global scale.

The organisation provides professional development courses to Teachers and connects those who want to make a difference to education around the world. It has 9 initiatives that it focuses on and teachers are the ones that conceive, lead and manage these initiatives. Out of the nine TWB initiatives,I have chosen to focus on the Child Friendly Space.
The Child Friendly Space initiative brings teachers into the safe spaces to assist with educational and social needs in times of crisis or emergency. These spaces can help children return to a normal routine by offering activities, games and informal education.

Fred Mednick , believes teachers are the largest professionally trained group in the world (around 60 million) and teachers due to their position in the community are often the first responders in emergencies and natural disasters. This is why TWB connects with teachers to create resources for those in crisis. I believe that one of these resources could be
my Bindlestick Learning program.
